Walmart is aiming to capture the hearts of Gen Z shoppers, who are super influenced by social media trends. This was announced recently by Walmart’s Chief Marketing Officer, William White, on LinkedIn.

What Can You Find?

Right now, there are a few shops selling fashion and beauty products in cool virtual environments. It’s like shopping in a video game!

⭐️ Research indicates that young consumers heavily rely on social media celebrities for shopping inspiration.
📱 A study revealed that 68% of Gen Z consumers search for products on social media, with 22% making purchases directly through these platforms.
🤳🏼 Additionally, nearly 40% of Gen Z consumers use TikTok and Instagram for product discovery, bypassing traditional search engines like Google.

Amazon's Social Commerce Strategy

Amazon is making some big moves to connect with TikTok users and increase their sales.

This is what they’re up to:

Prime Video TikTok

Amazon’s Prime Video TikTok account, led by creator Kane Diep, has 20 million followers! They’re really nailing it with diverse and engaging content that resonates with Gen Z and Millennials.

Shop While You Scroll

They’ve added shoppable functionality to the platform, so all the likes and comments can turn into actual purchases. It’s a seamless way to shop while enjoying TikTok content.

What’s Next

Andy Jassy, Amazon’s CEO, sees big potential in the future. He’s talking about how Prime Video ads could link streaming TV ads directly to business outcomes, like product sales or getting more people to sign up for Prime.
